1) The Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie) Lebanon

Founded in 1951, the Lebanese University is the Public National University of Lebanon.
Today, it hosts about 75,000 students distributed among more than 15 Faculties and Institutes, covering all major specialties.

Opened since 1980, the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie) has three Branches
(the first in Tripoli-Lebanon, the second in Roumieh, and the third in Hadass-Beirut).
Nowadays the Faculty of Engineering forms more than 2,000 Engineering-students.

2) Education at the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie) Lebanon

The main objectif of the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie)
is to bring up engineers to high theoretical and practical standards.
The education is based on modern curriculums and on selective academic criteria (required minimum grades >50/100, required minimum general average >60/100, only one session, ...).

On the other hand, all full time professors hold Doctoral degree or Ph.D. of international level in addition to their engineering diploma.

3) Selective Entrance Exam at the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie) Lebanon

a) For holders of Lebanese Scientific Baccalaureate (or equivalent) an entrance exam is conducted at the Faculty of Engineering in July (please ask at the Faculty of Engineering).
It consists of 5 written obligatory tests in: Math's, Physics, Chemistry, Arabic, Foreign Language (French or English).

b) Special cases (please ask at the Faculty of Engineering)
holders of a Bachelor in Science or equivalent may sit for the 3rd year entrance exam (i.e. first specialty year). The seven written tests are obligatory: Math's, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanics, Statics, Computers, and Foreign Language (French or English).

4) Study Schedule at the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie) Lebanon

Engineering study schedule is a full 5 years program (10 semesters in total).
The academic year starts early October, finishes in July, and consists of two Semesters.

At the end of the first 2 years of common program (Tronc Commun), students may choose the 3 years of specialty in one of the major Departments:
- Civil Engineering (G.C.),
- Electric-Electronic (&Computer) Engineering (G.E.E.),
- Mechanical Engineering (G.M.).

At the Faculty of Engineering, each Department may have several options (Structure, Hydraulic, Power, Telecommunications, ...).
And all the 10th semester is for training and final comprehensive project.

5) Laboratories facilities at the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie) Lebanon

Labs have three main objectives:
- pedagogic (obligatory applied sessions for students),
- research (for the Faculty of Engineering members),
- industrial (R&D, modeling).
Each Department has many Laboratories.

6) Libraries and Information Centers at the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie)

The Library of each Branch has more than 15,000 books besides the numerous periodicals.

The Information Centers are open from 8:00am until 5:00pm.
A large number of interconnected PC's (with network) are available for all students at all time.

7) Recruitment

Normally Faculty of Engineering (Lebanon) graduates work in Lebanon or abroad in the Arab countries, or Europe (France, Belgium, ...), or America (U.S.A., Canada, ...), or even other countries.

Each year, some of them benefiting from scholarships pursue graduate studies in France and elsewhere.

8) Graduate Studies (Master & DEA: Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies)

a) In collaboration with the AUPELF-UREF and some French Universities, the Faculty of Engineering (Lebanon) is conducting a Master/DEA program in Industrial Control.

b) In collaboration with the AUPELF-UREF, some French Universities and the Faculty of Science (Lebanon) together with the St Joseph University (ESIB-USJ), the Faculty of Engineering (Lebanon) is conducting two Master/DEA programs: one in Modeling (Computing) and one in Telecommunications.

c) In collaboration with some French Universities, the Lebanese University is conducting other Master/DEA programs (Mecatronic, Urbanism, ...).

9) Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Engineering (Faculté de Génie) Lebanon

A doctoral (Ph.D.) program is being planned at the Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with French Universities.
